Followers (Of Christ),
When Jesus Christ was walking on the planet, he spent his time looking at, interacting with the things of spiritual/mental health and...religion. He did not always uphold religion and it's "rules" asserted by man in it's own rights. Not where it's ways of being applied was not healthy, e.g. Luke 14:5, emotional and physical health of animals mattered too. God, yet human, he too had to operate to needs of he and his "staff" to tend to physical and mental needs, ...right up until he himself became the sacrifice to patch the loopholes that would have otherwise separated mankind from God beyond the grave. He set aside his physical health quite acutely, to amend the mortal defect to our bodies known as death, to make our eternal spiritual existence be possible forever.
In the USA today, "more than 1 in 4 has mental health issues" is how we are used to it being said. Usually looking outward at others, not noticing the Egyptian river on our cell phone reading this. That ol Nile. The Nile. De Nile. Denial. Most mental health effects how people feel they relate with and perceive God in a personal subjective way. How much "clarity" one perceives the creator, how at peace with the maker one "feels", how "close". Jesus was advocating that he is a spiritual fix for the souls of all to be perfected in grace as the perfect sacrifice, and actually did so. Yet if he ever said "The world is still filled with sickness", we could scarcely disagree. Now, in year 2018 mental health of adults is 1 in 5 per MHA claims of adults that has mental health issues. Yet this does not mean things are better now than 15 years ago from 1 in 4, it is an illusory numbers trick, and there is rather expanding mental health issues. It is among our youth as the expanding market place of mental health issues that harass and impede the development of the human soul from it's rightful place from being closer to the model and connection of it's divine maker.
Instruction Manuals...
Below is only three checkpoints and keys, of many...
1.-Power of positive thinking: Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
2.-Fruits of the Holy Spirit, and self control of emotions from overpowering.: Proverbs 25:28
He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls. Whereas the fruits Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
3.-Self care, self investment, recharging yourself, delving into relaxation, proper and healthy nourishment's.: Mark 6:31 And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.
There is a great deal of the Bible about deadly addictions and substance abuse where our opiod epidemic is scarcely anything new, but society walking away from all Christ said is, and many things it encourages people to do to be healthy. Let's stop trying to figure out what is wrong with society, and start re-discovering what is right about keeping God's words, and developing our Ministries to help increase access to mental health care. The Bible was there first...we just need to find it again. Mental health is like the broken things we can mend in his promises and words.<Click

A psychiatrist, which is a Greek word meaning "doctor of the soul", usually is not trained to even regard there is a soul, nor does the DSM-IV specifically consider it as well, much less concept's that outside of corrupted flesh that "here and now" never comes to a stop. Psychiatry, as an admitted over generalization, sees the finite limitations of the obvious of humans as bio-organic chemicals and electrical currents of the flesh and brain. Jesus saw that all as the "temporary" stuff, yet, knew how to address even much of the temporary stuff too in ways we can think, and discipline our thoughts toward concepts of eternity forward. Often so simply achieved in prayer in fashion as he set forth. Yet even then, what of those who's mental health leaves them feeling remote, distant, disconnected, disillusioned due a condition from closeness enough to pray? Who just do not personally relate to their creator? It is not like they do prayer or Christian based meditation in schools anymore,...so the "disconnect" from their creator is pretty blunt. Nor allow the Bible to be read to see the ancient pathways out of chaos realm to better mental health. Mental health issues among youth increasing is therefore a surprise?
Two things are noticed in America. 1.-Decline in religion and Bible in metro regions where there in patterns of large if not overbearing governance systems that are adamantly secular as to be hostile to founding God of our beliefs. 2.-Increase in mental health issues and mental disabilities among youth. Other countries, even in other religions as Islam in Turkey as example , there tends to be increases in the effects of secular governance from sectarian religions, toward "deism" that in simple form is belief in a God but without religion telling them what or how to believe and remove that from the Governments role. In this country, did we take it too far that freedom of religion played the Marxist fiddle to no religion that people forgot what Gods suggestions are to keeping or getting back to mental health?
There is of course forms of mental health and disabilities not caused by anything directly the result of "choices", or "behaviors", nor lack of faith or poor "moral choices", etc.. Yet, even of these, and more, the Bible is still one of the worlds best guides to mental health we have, and has many guides to cognitive therapy and behavioral checkpoints to leading us back to that closeness with God our society used to crave.
