Followers (Of Christ),
Today' message is addressing one small part of The Great Commission of Jesus Christ (Mathew 28:16-20), and this ministry. The prophecy in action from Revelation12 that writes to us about "over-comers" of this world.
The phrase "Book of Revelation" as is titled in recent times commonly (if not needlessly) evokes fearful "doom" imagery. Some designate meanings to words (apocalypse) that are not as theologically or originally defined. The Book of Revelation was first written in Greek, alleged to be inspired by Jesus Christ using angelic intermediary process being written down by a Jewish-Christian man named "John". John associated it being done on the Island of Patmos in the Aegean possibly around AD 61-89. Even then, who that particular John was, and the time period is not agreed by all.
In those time periods, they did not have book or chapter titles like now. People took the first words of the text being arranged and those first words formed the basis of the book name or chapter "titles," that is how it got called "Book Of Revelation" (apocalypse). No special reason it was called by the word revelation or apocalypse (other Bible books have prophecy too). The Koine Greek word "apokalupsis" ἀποκάλυψις simply means "revealing", or "uncovering". Some person named John wrote letters from Jesus to churches as "revealed" or "uncovered"...hence the book got titled "Revelation". There was no special "destructive" significance or "doom" meaning to the word apocalypse (revelation/reveal) and held at the time no eschatological/dispensation context some now assert. Over the many centuries, changes began to occur to now-days some have completely altered in American culture more so than others, to mean something totally different than simply "reveal" or "uncover". The theological definition of "apocalyptic" is radically different than how the same word has totally different context to today's society in mental health professions use of the term.
We do not hold an adverse interpretation, certainly have well studied opinions of our own, yet are here to share today what is a key issue of impact to the whole "Revelation 12" point to be made...
Share With Us The ἀποκάλυψις Prophecy Meaning Please...
Revelation 12 is the entire Bible story from the beginning to the end, and includes the here and now in a summary of age old classic struggle between "good and evil"..reduced to the most substantial event in all human history...Jesus Christ. The "meaning" of it all...is it wants your testimony, a recent example you may recall last weeks blog featuring Lilly Smith's testimony. Revelation 12 is for you to testify about Christ. The meaning is to do, the revealing...the uncovering, the revelation of your testimony of Christ. Give an apocalypse of your testimony. Are you apocalyptic? :)
We look to the Bible for what it says,...yet we got it backwards, it is rather the Bible that is looking to us for what we (you) have to say. Testimony of Christ is what we are supposed to be doing.
Revelation 12:11 "And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony..." (emphasis added). You win against good and evil, giving testimony. Many people have accepted the blood of the lamb. It is just that minor detail that is the whole focus about Revelations 12 ...that there is the second half following the word "and" that says "testimony".
It is virtually the meaning and purpose of your life...to give testimony of Christ. You can be a guest writer and doing contributory articles, a guest speaker on our podcast show and talk about all kinds of things, and all focus of the meaning....boils down to giving a word of testimony.
The ministry does and will do many things and services you can click here and go to our website to start learning more as it keeps growing an developing, and sharing a way for us all to give testimony to the whole world, is part of why we are here and you can find out clicking here.
This weeks you tube video song to share...testify.
