Maybe you feel about like we do....glad the "holidays" are almost over, with New Years about here Sunday at that dark and cold hour of midnight. Looking forward to relaxing from and surviving the holidays and it's heightened expectations with some normalcy coming back to our lives, losing the weight we gained even. Then again,....is it really "holi-days"? Truthfully, New Years has not been holy or holidays since year 1752 as practiced then in early Americas Colonies. Time and laws have really changed since the colonies (Year 1752 is when the colonies adopted to Pope Gregory's calendar that changed time and laws), instead of holy days...the pagan and older beliefs surged and revived from the biblical practices prior held to instead what we have today.
Most followers of Christ realize pagan ways of "the heathen" are simply old ways of various cultures and religiosity that is pre-Christ, and largely void of Christ as the issue. Including some errant ways of early Christians that also did not follow God's laws are also an irony. Current New Years may be practiced by some who claim to be "Christians", but at root is inaccurate to call it "'Christian' Holidays". Holidays yes, but not Christ-ian holidays of the bibles directives. It is not being picky or religious conquest burying older religions per se, as it is about recognizing the one creator in the way he asked to be recognized set forth in his words. Yet, for "knowing" or "realizing", liberal arts has taught us all "co-existence" leaving for "no-existence" of Christianity and "no existence" of Yawehs customs in some mighty morphed blends of beliefs called "holidays". Where did we go wrong? Jeremiah 10:2-4 “Learn not the way of the heathen…for the customs of the people are vain.”. Ahhh, but hey, it is "New Years", and we are lightened up and not party poopers are we?...
God has a history of God leading us his people (to also mean his expansive House of Isreal that is many, many peoples world wide) in to, and out of Israel as free and slave, where he saved us and drew us out and away from pagan/heathen practices to keep us set apart from the world and called and identified as his. God rescued the 12 tribes of Israel from Egypt out of slavery and commanded, “After the doings of the land of Egypt, where in you dwelt, you shall not do: and after the doings of the land of Canaan, where I bring you, shall you not do: neither shall you walk in [men’s] ordinances” (Lev. 18:3). God told the Israelite's not to defile themselves with the practices and customs of the others nations (Lev. 18: 24-29). “Therefore shall you keep My ordinance, that you commit not any one of these abominable customs, which were committed before you, and that you defile not yourselves therein: I am the Lord your God” (Lev. 18:30). God gives us clear guidance, and instead, we tend to repeat history all over again, fleeing to North America making colonies to escape oppression of false religions we rather allowed to follow us here and repeated history basically. We ran, but we did not hide. We did pretty good practicing holidays as set forth by God in the Bible, until 1752 when the Gregorian calendar decreed to us brought us right back into raw brazen heathen paganism of New Years and against Gods new years time, dates and functions.

Prior to the birth of Jesus and ensuing "Christmas" celebrations, we actually have very little "approved holidays"....and they certainly do not fall under the errant ways we have allowed to take hold in this country stemming from the popes decrees leading us further and further away from clear times and laws set forth under Biblical commands. Leviticus 23 reveals all the special Holy Days (annual Sabbaths) that Christians are to observe. You call yourself "Christian", yet "practice New Years"? Your choice, but let's just not call it a "Christian" holiday.
Unlike the popes decrees and Gregorian calendar "holidays" that Americans adopted in 1752 and generally stopped following what the Bible said of holidays... there is a actual set of holy days, Jesus kept them, as did the apostles and the New Testament Church (Matt. 26:17-19; Matt. 28:18-20; I Corinthians).
What currently exist is pagan/heathen practices of some 4,000 years that crept into American holiday structures and dates, and largely ignored the holidays of the Bible. How closely have you examined or thought about "what" exactly it is it is you are celebrating New Years?
Just A Pagan Festival To Put Behind Us The Old Year, What Could Possibly Go Wrong?

The Bible admonishes Christians to “walk decently, not in revelries and drunken bouts.”(;Romans 13: 12-14 ;Galatians 5:19-21 1 Peter 4:3). New Years as currently practiced in America, could fairly be said to basically mock biblical discretion's that disappear as fast as a 12 pack. Alcohol is not in the Ten Commandments, and it is not a sin unto itself. Drunkenness however in the name of pagan practice celebration, is admonished and not healthy and flat out abuse is considerably warned.
We unwittingly glamorize New Years in forms that started in Babylon, emerged in Greece, and then to Rome. Romans called in Saturnalia after Saturn. Excess drinking, orgies and in an alarming amount of cultures lead to a culmination of human sacrifice and or even the incomprehensible baby sacrifice that took approximately 1,800,000 human babies lives in 2017 as no less barbaric than that prior civilizations open cult rituals, just separated from our view by a surgical curtain. As high as the abortion rate is, it has been going down, but still not cause for a New Years party just yet. Then washed down like the Greeks in January held the "Festival Of The Wine Press". For some reasons we don't hear much about human sacrifice.
When considering the adverse impacts of New Years, DUI's, DWI's, brawls, vomit stenched jail cells, STD's, alcohol and drug abuses and wondering "what could possibly go wrong", none of it is "an accident". It is from a mass increase of willful stupidity. Just to see how much you can get away with before midnight. (The actual increases of death on January 1st have not been thoroughly studied, but in surprise to some on DUI deaths actually do not run higher than other holidays like July 4th.) Yet consider that human sacrifice in many pagan or heathen and cult practices was much more prevalent in the Mediterranean even in the American continents as the way to polish off the old year and celebrate a new one using human flesh and souls to lessen the misfortunes of others and empower ones self to better luck hoped for by appeasing the gods instead of growing up and taking personality responsibility. While sacrifice is now nearly worldwide classified as homicide and is not so openly practiced these days, can you afford to learn the hard way it might still exist by someone in your areas? Stay alert if someone says in Walker wisdom "wow, you are really the life of this party!" as it might not mean what you think it does and could end badly for you. And being a young, beautiful virgin sometimes meant short life span, needlessly disposed of to a fake god or idol that is not real like the sacrifice Christ made. Point is, Christianity globally has greatly slowed down "barbaric" human sacrifices of ritualism....now if we can just go back to celebrating on the right dates we will be more Godly about it.

| Wow, you American Christians sure do know how to party, and even kill your babies in abortion rituals we hear. is not unlike Baal. Gosh, we don't really want to tell you how to live (or end) your life, but maybe you should stop to consider we killed and sacrificed Jesus Christ already and that is more than enough sacrifice for the whole world forever. Next time you get asked if you have any New Years party plans, consider saying "Not at this time, I'll wait to celebrate at the head of the months this spring like the Bible commands instead..." We are not hardcore here and not saying "don't celebrate New Years", just asking two things. 1.-Be mindful what you are celebrating and be responsible, and 2.-Know in the back of your mind God prefers his own "New Years" dates set forth that recognize him, not other deities or idols or customs. God’s designation of the spring month of Abib or Nisan on the Hebrew calendar as the beginning of the year (Exodus 12: 1-2), that is biblical, the appearance of the first new moon(when the waxing crescent of the moon is sighted) that is then called "The head of the months". Also, Yahweh's day begins at sunrise, not midnight. Once the crescent of the moon is seen....that is our true new years marking point leading us to that next morning. 2 “This month shall be for you the beginning of months. It shall be the first month of the year for you."-Exodus 12:2.
It was clear until year 1752 that the Tribes of Israel as found in the British and even early Americas colonies did not adopt Pope Gregory's calendar (Gregorian Calendar) he decreed in 1852. Meaning, Americans proper and Biblical celebrated and observed was (and should be) "New Years" in late March and early April.
If asked if we are going to any New Years parties, we thoughtfully consider the origins of underlying current practices and politely say "no thanks" to the 4,000 year old practices, but renew in Christ.
